International Students

Overview

Where the mountain meets the sea, and the world meets whānau.

Te Paepae o Aotea is a state co-educational school for Year 7 – 13 students based in Hāwera, South Taranaki. Our school's name, gifted by Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Ruanui and Te Korowai o Ngāruahine, reflects our history and ambitions for the future. We opened in February 2023 with approximately 1000 students, following the closure of Hāwera High School and Hāwera Intermediate.

2026 will be our first intake of International Students as Te Paepae o Aotea.  We are excited to welcome students, aged between 13 years and 18 years (Schooling Years 9-13) from around the world into our vibrant learning community and we aim to offer international students a unique opportunity to experience high-quality education in Aotearoa New Zealand, while being immersed in the rich cultural heritage of South Taranaki.

We look forward to having you join us and for you to be one of the first international students to experience our school and the friendly hospitality of our host families. Improve your English in a safe learning environment at Te Paepae o Aotea. We have a comprehensive and supportive wrap around International department to make your stay and learning experience the most memorable and successful it could be.

We have completed our lockdown EXERCISE and all all students, staff and persons on site are safely accounted for.
