Football at Te Paepae o Aotea

United Through Football

Senior Football
Football has a strong presence at Te Paepae o Aotea, with our teams competing in the Taranaki Secondary Schools Football Competition. In 2025, our Boys’ 1st XI team enjoyed outstanding success by winning the competition.

Depending on student numbers, Te Paepae o Aotea enters both boys’ and girls’ teams into the Taranaki Secondary Schools competition each year. Our 1st XI teams are made up of students from Years 9 to 13 and are coached by dedicated staff who work hard to support and develop our players throughout the season.

Matches are played at secondary schools throughout the Taranaki region, with Te Paepae o Aotea hosting home games at Bayly Park on Camberwell Road and Disraeli Street. For away fixtures, students travel together in a school van.

Year 7-8 Football
Our younger footballers also have the opportunity to develop their skills and represent the school through the Winter Sports Exchange Programme in Term 2. Students compete against Manukorihi Intermediate, Highlands Intermediate and Devon Intermediate. These exchanges are hosted either at Te Paepae o Aotea or at the participating schools’ home grounds.

Football continues to be a popular sport within our school, providing students with opportunities to develop teamwork, sportsmanship, fitness and leadership.
