Cricket at Te Paepae o Aotea caters for students across a wide range of age groups and abilities, providing opportunities for participation, development, and success.
Senior Cricket
Our 1st XI teams, comprising Year 11 to 13 students, compete in both boys’ and girls’ competitions when numbers allow. The 1st XI Boys team also has the opportunity to qualify for and attend the prestigious Ross Taylor Festival in Palmerston North, a highlight of the secondary school cricket calendar. Senior cricket fixtures are generally played on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.
Year 9-10 Cricket
We also field junior teams for Year 9 and 10 students ensuring younger players have opportunities to develop their skills and experience competitive cricket.
Year 7-8 Cricket
For our younger athletes, we offer Year 7 and 8 Boys’ and Mixed teams. Boys traditionally play on Friday afternoons, while girls’ games are played on Saturday mornings.
All age group matches are played throughout the Taranaki region, with home games hosted at Hickford Park at the TSB Hub.
Cricket Success
Te Paepae o Aotea has enjoyed considerable success in cricket. Our girls’ team claimed the 2025 Timberco Bash title, and several students have progressed to represent Taranaki age-group teams, receiving recognition for their achievements at regional prizegivings.
A special feature of our cricket programme is the involvement of senior students, who help coach and mentor our Year 7 and 8 teams. This creates strong relationships across the school and helps foster a positive cricket culture. We are also fortunate to receive excellent support from our wider community, which contributes to the ongoing success of cricket at Te Paepae o Aotea.
