Connect Through Creativity
Arts & Culture is a living and breathing part of life at Te Paepae o Aotea.
We welcome international learners into all arts and cultural activities. Whether you’re experienced or just curious, there’s a place for you to belong and grow.
This is also a chance to share your own culture, experience the richness of Aotearoa
New Zealand, and grow creatively in a supportive environment.
Our Region is an adventure-seekers’ dream.
At Te Paepae o Aotea, Outdoor Education will be a unique and exciting part of our international student experience. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Taranaki and the wider Aotearoa (New Zealand) landscape, students have the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom through hands-on, real-world experiences. From the rugged South Taranaki coastline and best surfing beaches to the majestic peaks of Mt Taranaki, our region offers an incredible natural classroom.
Why Outdoor Education?
Outdoor Education at Te Paepae o Aotea is more than just adventure—it’s about:
Activities may include
Get Active. Get Involved. Be Part of the Team.
At Te Paepae o Aotea, sport is an important part of school life and a fantastic way for international students to connect with others, stay active, and experience the spirit of teamwork and competition in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Why Join Sport?
At Te Paepae o Aotea, ESOL students attend specialised classes to build academic, social, and cultural English proficiency through reading, listening, speaking, and writing.
Why Our Students Succeed
Students are assessed upon enrolment to identify their current English abilities and learning needs, ensuring targeted support.
Curriculum Framework
The programme follows the Ministry of Education’s English Language Learning Progressions (ELLP), which outlines four stages of English development. Students advance at their own pace based on individual progress.
Assessment Approach
Progress is measured against each student’s Individual Learning Plan, focusing on personal growth rather than class averages.
