Hockey at Te Paepae o Aotea
Hockey continues to be a strong and growing sport at Te Paepae o Aotea. This year, we field two teams in the Taranaki Secondary Schools Winter Competition. Our Development Team competes in the Mixed Championship Grade, providing valuable opportunities for players to develop their skills and gain competitive experience. Our TPOA 1st XI Mixed Team competes in the Championship Grade, where players are challenged against mixed secondary school teams.
Hockey training is held after school on Wednesday afternoons in Term 2-3, with competition games predominantly played on Tuesday evenings at the TET Stratford Hockey Turf. Regular training and playing opportunities allow our students to continually develop their technical skills, game understanding and teamwork throughout the season.
Each year, our 1st XI Mixed Team has the opportunity to attend Winter Tournament Week, held at the end of August or beginning of September.
Tournament week provides new challenges and a great way to tests the teams resilience and adaptability.
