Netball

Netball at Te Paepae o Aotea is about much more than competition – it is about growth, commitment, teamwork, and whanaungatanga. Throughout the season, our players work hard to develop their skills, build confidence, and challenge themselves both on and off the court.

Our netball programme encourages players of all ages to strive for excellence while supporting one another. Senior players lead by example, creating a positive environment where younger athletes can learn, grow, and develop a love for the sport. Leadership, sportsmanship, and commitment are values that are fostered throughout all teams. Netball also provides opportunities for students to give back to the wider school community. Older players often support and mentor younger netballers, helping them develop their skills and confidence while creating strong connections across year levels.

For example our Future Ferns programme where our Senior A helps coach Year 1-4 Future Ferns on a Saturday morning at the Hāwera Statellite Netball competition.

Netball teams from Year 7–10 and Senior grades compete in the Hāwera Satellite Competition, held on Saturday mornings at the TSB Hub netball courts. The Senior A Netball team also looks forward to participating in Winter Tournament Week as part of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Netball competition.

Whether representing the school in local competitions, tournaments, or community events, our players proudly wear the Te Paepae o Aotea colours and demonstrate our school values of Aotea, Paepae and Taupaenui.
