28 Jul Te Paepae o Aotea Win 2023 Taranaki secondary school safety challenge
The Te Paepae o Aotea team of Ronan Hurley, Tyler Midgley, Luke Barnett and Ryan Hockly took out the 2023 Taranaki Secondary School Safety Team Challenge against six other high schools. In a hard fought battle they nudged out runners-up Stratford High School in the final event which was the safety Quiz. This competition began in 1998 so has a long history and is keenly contested between high schools of Taranaki.
In the competition the contestants have to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills in safety in a broad range of situations like quad bikes, tractors, livestock handling, firearms, first aid and mental health. Our team were good all rounders which ensured they took out the trophy.
